How Tim Berners-Lee Changed The World

I would like to speak about Tim Berners-Lee today. Let me start off with some background information on him first. He was born on June 8, 1955 in London, England. And he is currently director of the World Wide Web Consortium (which oversees its continued development), and a senior researcher and holder of the 3Com Founders Chair at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). However he is best known for his contribution of inventing the World Wide Web.

His contribution has greatly boosted the human endeavour of technology and in some ways, other aspects. His invention had helped to bring about great progress in globalisation at a point when it had seemed to meet a dead end. With the World Wide Web, transfer of information became more efficient. Research data could be transmitted throughout the world within hours of compilation. Which has thus brought about increased efficiency of research and development in certain endeavours.

Although there were telephones and other more primitive forms of communication in the past before the invention of the World Wide Web, only information in limited formats could be transferred instantaneously. Other formats of information, for example, diagrams or pictures could only be transferred on paper through mail back then. Thus it would have taken probably a week or more to have such information to be transferred over long distances.However, thanks to the World Wide Web, this time has been shortened to probably a few minutes or shorter.

In addition, almost everyone has access to the World Wide Web nowadays. Hence, information is more accessible to the public. With this, students and other people can have a wider range of sources which they can use for their project or work. Such easy and broad access to various information by various accurate has allowed people to gain a broader view on certain issues, though a minority of them may not be truly reliable and accurate. These have allowed people to truly broaden their horizon.

Finally, Tim Berners-Lee's invention has influenced a huge leap in technological advancement. The World Wide Web has made companies and people develop new programs and hardware to further improve it. The creation of Macromedia Flash was partly influenced by the invention of the World Wide Web, so that flash animations could be shared on the web.

Thus, it has been shown that Tim Berners-Lee's did greatly influence the technological and real world with his creation of the World Wide Web.
